First Peren District Music festival cum launching programme was held on November 14 at Local Ground, Peren Town with eleven bands pulling more than three thousand music enthusiasts which gathered to witness the event. Peren District Music festival cum launching programme was organized by Peren District Music Society and hosted by advisor of Peren district Music Society T.R. Zeliang.
Namnahei Naga Idol finalist 2007 mesmerized the crowd with ‘lead us to the light’ and folk melody was presented by Imtei Ramlia.
The vice principal, Peren Government College while addressing the festival as chief guest said that the Peren District made a humble beginning in the field of Music and mentioned Haisui Lungalang and his band (Perenians) as one of the first band of the District.
He called upon the gathering that Peren has come at par with the rest of Nagaland in the field of Music, adding that music can define “our joy and sorrow, making a bridge to the world.”
He also thanked the Peren District Music Society for the initiative taken and hoped that the young talent will bring laurels to the district with music.
President of the Peren District Music Society Hungsing Mbung delivering the presidential address said the Peren District Music Society came into existence to champion the cause and the interest of the music lovers of the District and that the festival was organized as part of the Society’s endeavour to promote and provide platform to local talent in the field of music so as to come at par with the outside world.
The bands which participated were Unique Flavor (Peren), Creation (Athibung), Intensive Fire (Tening), Fair Friends (Jalukie), VIII RIP (Peren), Soul Alliance (Jalukie), Sanakhang (Athibung), Sound King (Jalukie), Magnificient (Nsong), Peren College (Peren) and PDMS (Peren).
