KCCI to organize Hornbill night carnival

Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) would be organizing Hornbill Night Carnival in Kohima town from December 1-10 under the theme “capture the sight, colours, and revealing Hornbill carnival.”

Hornbill Night Carnival which is considered one of the exciting and much awaited by Kohima citizens and visitors during hornbill festival would begin from 4 p.m. till 8 p.m. This was announced by president KCCI Chris Kire during a press conference Tuesday at Hotel Vivor Kohima.

Kire informed that the Hornbill night carnival in Koima town would be at three locations i.e. main town, P.R. hill and high school junction and encouraged indenting participants to provide more ethnic food items and serve the same using traditional plates. He also appealed them to wear traditional attire.

Various competitions like night carnival photo competition, best decorated shop and others will be conducted with attractive prizes, said Kire and added that exorbitant price of the stalls would be controlled and hygiene of the stalls would also be made priority.

The KCCI members cautioned on sale of alcohol and other intoxicated items adding that the same would be strictly prohibited during the carnival so as to provide free and peaceful environment for every citizen.

Comparing to the past years, KCCI members lamented that this year the concern department and state government was “slow” in taking up initiative and other necessary arrangement for the ensuing Hornbill festival. They claimed that many official intimation and consultation were yet to be completed.

In order to make the night carnival friendlier and enjoyable, KCCI informed that four help booths in the main town would be set up and around hundred volunteers would be kept on duty.

Registration form for the Hornbill Night Carnival would be made available at Highway traders P.R. Hill, popular bakery, KCCI office and Solo enterprises high school junction with November 25 as the last date for form submission.

The press conference was attended by KCC joint secretary Kekhrienuo Mor, coordinator office administration KCCI Azai Kerhuo, vice president KCCI Jabou Sekhose, KCCL task force Peter Rutsa and KCCI secretary publicity and information Hetuo Solo.
