Dr. Temsula Ao to get Sahitya Akademi award

Chairperson Nagaland State Women Commission Dr. Temsula Ao along with two others from the Northeast has been selected for this year’s Sahitya Akademi awards which were declared on Wednesday in New Delhi.
The other two are Anil Kumar Boro of Assam and Makhonmani Mongsaba of Manipur. Dr. Temsula Ao has been slected for her works in English while Anil Kumar Boro and Makhonmani have been selected for their works in Bodo and Manipuri respectively.
Dr. Temsula Ao, a poet, scholar and novelist also won the Padma Shri in 2007.
She was one of the most widely respected literary figures of the region and was Fulbright Fellow to the University of Minnesota from 1985 to 1986. Besides a number of poetry collections, she has a couple of short story collections to her credit.
