Parliamentary secretary for excise, economics & statistics and LM & CP, T. Torechu March 4 inaugurated the road connecting Khong village to other villagers and the district headquarters Kiphire. Khong village is one of the last border villages in the Mt. Saramati Range in Pungro sub-division near the Indo-Myanmar border.
Addressing the inaugural programme, the parliamentary secretary appealed to the villagers to maintain unity and to properly utilize the funds and schemes provided by the government for speedy development of the village. He urged the villagers not to quarrel among themselves for the posts of village GBs, council or VDB members. Torechu also said that he would do his best to provide road connectivity to Vongtsuvong and Tsungdang villages, two of the 38 government recognized under Pungro sub-division, which were yet to be connected by roads.
ADC Pungro, Tainu said that since Khong village was now connected by road, the villagers would get all government facilities. ADC also stressed on the importance of role of women in village society and requested the villagers to include women in the village development board as per the state government guidelines.
Earlier, Khong village head GB Thronghokiu, in his welcome address, expressed gratitude to the government and parliamentary secretary Torechu for providing road connectivity to the village.
