In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Kohima Police has enhanced security measures around the district and also begun the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct. In a press release, Kohima police PRO and SDPO, Kohima Shouka Kakheto said one company each from the Mizoram Armed Police and the 155 Bn. BSF have already reported for election and pre-poll duties. PRO also informed that during the last one week, over 300 litres of IMFL have been seized from various locations and 6 persons have been arrested and forwarded to the court in this connection. In addition, eight persons have also been arrested and forwarded to the court for committing various other offences. Kohima police also informed that all passengers embarking and disembarking from the Lerie Heliport including their baggage would be subjected to search and frisking. Passengers have been requested to report at least one hour before the scheduled flight.
