13 houses gutted by wild fire in Peren

Wild fire gutted 13 houses and reportedly damaged properties worth around lakhs of rupees Friday afternoon in Vongkithem village, under EAC Ahthibung Town, Peren district.
According to an initial estimate, the fire razed to the ground 13 houses and destroyed properties worth Rs. 42 lakhs; granaries worth Rs. 12 lakhs; livestock worth Rs. 2 lakhs and some cash.
A press release issued by information and publicity secretary of  Kuki Students’ Organisation, Nagaland Paotinsei Khongsai said those who made the initial the initial assessment include a team led by EAC Ahthibung Alem Yapang Longchar. The team comprised of Kuki Inpi Nagaland; Kuki Students’ Organisation, Nagaland; GBs’ Union, Ahthibung Area; office-in-charge police station, Ahthibung; 9 IR Saijang personnel who provided water tanker; GBs of neighbouring Villages; Kuki Christian Church, Nagaland Synod; Adhoc-Town Committee; Zeliang Baudi’s speaker; D. Abraham and others.
In connection to the incident, Seisat Chongloi has been entrusted as chairman of the Village Relief Committee.
