Dimapur Urban Colonies Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCCF) had asked Naga Political Groups (NPGs) not to not to pressurize colonies leaders to collect tax on their behalf.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting held on May 21 at Lengrijan Council Hall, Dimapur. The meeting attended by the chairman along with council members from all member colonies also discussed issues pertaining taxation by NPGs; development and social problems.
A press release issued by DUCCCF media cell said the meeting resolved to reaffirm the federation’s position that it would stand by the October 31, 2013 public rally resolution of “One government, one tax.”
The federation said the colonies or village council and GBs were “helpless to collect the tax for the NPGs” and further pointed out that the “voice of people” was supreme. Therefore, the DUCCCF urged the NPGs not to pressurize the colonies leaders to collect tax. DUCCCF also sternly warned LPG black marketers and resolved to check the same within their respective colonies/areas. A fine Rs.5000 would be imposed on the defaulters and LPG cylinders would be confiscated, said DUCCCF.
