World Blood Donor Day observed in Peren dist

World Blood Donors Day was observed June 14 at GBs Hall, Peren on the theme “Save Blood for Saving Mothers”.
Speaking on the significance of the day, EAC Peren Kelevito Nisa said that world blood donors day started with the initiative of World Health Organisation (WHO) in 2004 with the objective to give awareness on AIDS to reached awareness and save blood and blood products.
Blood donation has save millions of life every year, he said and stated that it also help to live longer. Blood donation gives us a privilege to save life specially women during delivery of child etc. He challenged everyone to donate blood and save life.  Dr. Hedungkiebe, an eye surgeon of District Hospital Peren, also spoke on the theme.
He said everyday 800 mothers die mainly because of bleeding in delivery of child birth. He encouraged the voluntary donors and the health ministry to give complete save blood. The programme was chaired by Ngautube, Member Peren District VDB Association (PDVBDA), stated a DIPR report.
