One-day training programme for civil societies was conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kohima conducted at the Conference Hall, CRBC Zunpha August 13, which was attended by 33 trainees who were trained on soil liming, scope of winter vegetable and oyster mushroom cultivation.
In a press release, KVK, Kohima programme coordinator Dr. Akashe Zhimomi stated that at the technical session, one of the resource persons SMS (soil conservation) Zhiete, while speaking on the topic “soil liming” emphasized on the importance on liming for amelioration soil acidity, dosage for liming depending on type of soil, crop to be grown and organic matter present in the soil.
Also, speaking on the topic “Scope of winter vegetable cultivation”, another resource person SMS (horticulture) Khekali Sema highlighted the importance of vegetable cultivation, nutritional benefits from vegetables and the scope of cultivating various winter vegetables.
Delivering lecture on “oyster mushroom cultivation”, SMS (plant protection) Michael Pienyu stressed on its nutritional and medicinal aspects of mushroom. He also informed the trainees on how mushroom cultivation would generate employment opportunity and provide subsidiary source of income.
Demonstration on mushroom cultivation was demonstrated to the trainees.
Earlier, the programme began with an invocation by CRPC Zunpha youth secretary Peter, farm manger Sesenlo Kath chaired the programme and Arhunlo Semp development officer CRBC proposed the vote of thanks. At the training programme, mushroom spawns were distributed to the participants.
