Department of Agriculture, in collaboration with ATMA, Wokha, organized a farmers’ training cum demonstration at Doyang on September 10 where a total of forty participants attended the programme. The Resource persons were Mrs. Bendangla Imsong, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Breeding) and Ms. Jessica Dohtong, Prog. Asstt (Home Science), KVK (ICAR), Wokha. Topics on “Registration of plant varieties and farmers’ right act,” “The importance of preservation and processing of locally cultivated fruits and vegetables for self income generation” respectively were presented by the resource persons.
The programme was chaired by Pithungo Tungoe, Agriculture Officer. Methods of banana, potato chips, mamanti (local cherry) jam, squash, chilli pickle making were demonstrated to the participants. The participants took active part in making the same. The progamme ended with vote of thanks by Thunjamo Yanthan.
