Zbto DPDB approves several recommendations

Zunheboto District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) deliberating on the schemes under DUDA 2014/15 has approved the recommendations including water supply from Hipu river to Satio and construction of rostrum amounting Rs. 20 lakh and Rs 15 lakh respectively.
DPDB meeting for the month of September held at DC’s conference hall Zunheboto September 16 also approved two schemes for Suruhoto constituency amounting Rs 20 lakhs for flood control protection wall at Tizu valley paddy fields and another Rs. 20 lakhs for maintenance of road from Yevishe village to Asuto (Achikuchu Junction). The board also approved construction of culvert and drainage for Aghunato constituency amounting Rs. 20 lakhs for each project.
Speaking at the meeting, parliamentary secretary sericulture & cooperation and DPDB Zunheboto chairman Pukhayi Sumi said the state has rich mineral resources, which could be used to generate income but lamented that people lacked insight.
He said that Zunheboto district has big scope and potentialities to improve its economy through textiles if people are trained on how to deal with worms and cocoons.
Pointing out that the best maize and potatoes were produced in Aghunato area, which could have high demand, Pukhayi requested the heads of departments especially the agri and allied sectors to encourage the local people by giving them the concepts.
He further said “HoDs in the district should have strict supervisions on the government schemes and plans to ensure quality in their works”.
Meanwhile, with regard to construction of security wall at government college Zunheboto, the members discussed and directed the college authority to put a proposal to Higher Education Department, Kohima Nagaland.
Prior to the meeting, a powerpoint presentation on implementation of PMGSY and NLCRP schemes was presented by PWD R&B Zunheboto.
Earlier, the meeting began with a welcome note from the new deputy commissioner (DC) Zunheboto, Temsu Longkumer.
In conclusion, the DC Zunheboto informed all the heads of offices to participate in the forthcoming Inter-departmental badminton tournament scheduled from September 25-27.
