Life consumer Society & RTI (LCS&RTI) Monday appealed the Dimapur police to expedite the probe into the alleged case of “extortion network” involving goods transport companies and requested the rest of transport companies to cover up the shortage of essential needs by taking active role.
In a press release, LCS&RTI president Khekuto Tuccu and general secretary Khevito has urged the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dimapur to open the locked transport offices during the pendency of a verification report to be submitted to the district administration by the police.
The society has also asked whole sale businessmen, agents and distributors etc to streamline their chain of supply to genuine retail outlets for the interest of the consumers till the shortage of essential items could be improved by transports which were not listed under the investigation by Dimapur Police.
LCS&RTI also appeal the DMC, CMO, food and civil supply deprtment to enforce prevention of unnecessary hoarding which resulted in price hike. The society also asked the DC to look into the transport of emergency goods laden trucks by providing necessary security and protection from illegal taxes.
