Dimapur Longsai Ekhung (DLE) has sought necessary action from deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur on “misuse” of Nyamo Lotha Road in order to avoid “any misunderstanding” in the future.
In a letter addressed to DC Dimapur, DLE chairman Yanbemo Humtsoe and general secretary Sebastian Ezung pointed out there was frequent nomenclature misuse of Nyamo Lotha Road (deluxe police point to dhobinalla police point via holy cross police point) by various NGOs, individuals, government agencies including district administration, election office, SP office and Dimapur traffic control.
Ekhung stated that the road, which was named after late Nyamo Lotha, who had given so much to the development of Dimapur town into commercial hub, has been frequently misused for various unknown intentions and reasons.
DLE stated that the erstwhile Church Road was renamed as Nyamo Lotha Road vide order No.DEV-1/87-D/13070-78, dated Dimapur the 22nd Feb. 1993. However, DLE said that it was “a great displeasure and regretful” to see that the named had been misused.
DLE said it acknowledged the DMC for their effort in maintaining the record straight.
Ekhung further appealed to the traffic control to immediately remove the traffic signs and indications which is being used as Church Road.
DLSU on Nyamo Lotha Road
Dimapur Lotha Students’ Union (DLSU) has informed all responsible that the road from Dhobinala police point via Holy Cross police point upto Delux point or new flyover should be addressed and used as Nyamo Lotha Road as per the order issued by the then ADC Dimapur, Rajiv Bansal on February 22, 2013.
In a press release, DLSU urged upon the district administration and DMC to look into the matter seriously. It also appealed to all the concerned business establishments, shopkeepers, postmaster, editors of all local dailies and all head of departments in Dimapur for immediate implementation of the order as it was very “disturbing and confusion”.
