Kiphire Area Sangtam Students’ Union (KASSU) has vehemently condemned the October 10 incident at Saramati High School wherein Shikato, father of a student, and a member of GPRN/NSCN, allegedly “assaulted and attempted to murder” the headmaster of the school inside the class room during class hour.
In a press release, KASSU president Litsapi C.Sangtam stated that such act by the father of a student was an unbecoming, adding that there was “no space” for such person “in our society.”
KASSU has extended “unconditional” support to the United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) for taking up the matter and issuing the notification against the perpetrator.
Further, KASSU stated that the notification issued by its apex student body was justified and in the larger interest of the public. It appealed to all the Naga political groups to uphold the notification earlier issued by the USSC.
Meanwhile, KASSU also condemned the September 29 incident occurred at Kiphire town, where Athrennu Yimchunger, Leacy Speaker of Yimchunger Region of FGN, was “murdered” by unknown miscreants at Longya ward Kiphire Town. KASSU has appealed to the law enforcing agencies to book the responsible and take action according to the provision of law.
In a separate statement, Kiphire District Sumi Students’ Union (KDSSU) has strongly condemned the act of “major” Shikato Tikhir, who allegedly assaulted the headmaster of Saramati Modern High School, Kiphire, inside the school campus. KDSU said “using muscle power to settle the score in an educational institution is an act of barbarism”, adding that such act called for “condemnation from every section of the society.”
In a press release, KDSSU president Yeshika termed it “unfortunate” that “Naga freedom fighter” was “ironically showing his patriotism by harassing and threatening a teacher with all his might”.
Further, KDSSU urged GPRN/NSCN to take necessary action against “erring cadre”, Shikato Tikhir at the earliest to prove that they stood for justice.
