Nagaland governor P. B. Acharya Friday said Nagas had the potential to own the best institutions in the country instead of sending children outside the state for studies. He said this while addressing the gathering during the golden jubilee celebration of Little Flower Hr. Sec. School (LFHSS) Kohima at its school premises on Friday.
Lauding the powerful presentation displayed by the students of LFHSS, the governor felt that the state government should start such school like LFHSS in all the districts in the state which reflected the standard of co-curricular education comparable to other advanced state. He asserted that education was wholesome only when it empowered a child for the empowerment of the country.
Governor saluted the pioneers for making it a centre of learning with farsightedness and dedication inculcating invaluable knowledge, moral values and attitude for future career of the students.
He said school should aim at moulding students intellectually competent , spiritually mature , morally upright, mentally strong, physically healthy and socially acceptable who would champion the cause of justice, love true and peace.
Acharya lauded the school for inclusion of variety of dances including Mizo in the programme which he termed as a proved the spirit of integration. He reminded that the educational career of the students was in the hands of teachers and said besides teaching in the classroom teachers should ensure students to guide in the right way for their future. Governor also reminded the students to be disciplined, obedient, punctual and diligent.
Minister forest, environment and wildlife Dr. Nicky Kire while addressing the gathering as guest of honour said the past pupils should contribute something for the schools development and welfare. He suggested that the former students of the school who worked in various profession to open a website and connect together and contribute some beneficial things to the school.
The jubilee messages were delivered by chief judicial magistrate Kohima & president LFS past pupils’ association T. Therieh and provincial, Salesian Sisters province of Guwahati Rev. Sr. Elizabeth George.
The programme was compeered by Angam Shingnai, welcome speech was given by Sr. Lydia Komuhra Sr. superior, school report by Principal Sr. Anna Molly Thekkanai.
Numbers of items like songs, dances, drill, cultural fusion and others were presented by the students. Vote of thanks was given by vice principal Sr. Lucy Gangmei.
On Saturday, the day-2 celebration, the Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio would be the chief guest and parliamentary secretary of school education Yitachu and Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil Bishop of Kohima would be the guests of honour.
