V&AC raids Agri minister’s residences

State Vigilance Commission and Anti-Corruption cell conducted simultaneous raids at the official and private residences of agriculture minister Dr.N. Benjongliba Aier in Kohima and collected material evidence on alleged misappropriation and mis-utilisation of funds under Horticulture Technology Mission during 2008-09 and 2012-13.
It may be recalled, that documentary evidences were provided by CLP leader Tokheho Yepthomi over which suo moto criminal case was registered against Dr. Benjongliba.
The case was registered after scrutiny of documents made available which alleged involvement in the misappropriation and mis-utilization of funds under the Horticulture Technology Mission during the period 2008 – 2009 to 2012 – 13. Highly placed informed Nagaland Post that the raid was carried out under the supervision of Oponlumi, Additional S.P Vigilance Oponlumi and other members of the Vigilance Team with the security cover provided by the SP Kohima. Vigilance department also clarified that Dr Bejongliba was not arrested as he has agreed to cooperate.
Meanwhile, talking to Nagaland Post, CLP leader Tokheho Yepthomi, who highlighted the anomalies, disclosed that there also many corruption cases and expressed the hope that Vigilance Commission would act on these cases but alleged that the state government was sitting over prosecution orders.
Further, in a press release, IGP and director V&AC, J.I Yaden said that the commission’s Police Station registered a suo moto criminal case against Dr. N. Benjongliba Aier after scrutiny of documents made available, pointing out the alleged involvement in the misappropriation and misutilization of funds under Horticulture Technology Mission pertaining to the period 2008 – 2009 to 2012 – 13.
The materials seized during the search operations were under scrutiny, V&AC stated.
V&AC clarified that Dr. Benjongliba Aier was not arrested since he was “expected to co-operate with the investigations”.
