
In an effort to educate the barbers on “good citizenship”, Police Baptist Church Dimapur (PBCD) and Nagamese Baptist Church Association (NBCA) jointly organized a seminar on “barber’s good citizenship”, Tuesday at PBCD premises.
Resource persons for the seminar were commissioner of excise and prohibition, Dimapur, Dr. Maongwati Aier and Ghoshen Gospel Ministry, Dimapur director Kumar Pillai. Emphasizing on the characteristics of a good citizen, Dr. Maongwati Aier handed out printed copies with relevant topics to the attendees which he later explained in detail.
In his presentation, Aier said good citizen comprises of people who respect authority, their property, environment, who obeys the law, respect all nationalities, love his or her country, believes in doing what is right, stands for the right of others and contribute to the society and community.
He deliberated on some points like acquiring good education, working hard, being updated on current events and news, sharing good fortune, donating blood and plasma, getting emergency training, creating jobs and staying healthy.
Aier also elaborated on the importance of voting rights, recycling, compost pit, local products, conservation of water and energy and usages of public transportation etc. and encouraged the participants to exercise the characteristics of a good citizen in order to build a better living. Resource person Kumar Pillai also spoke in the seminar.
NBCA executive secretary, Reverend Chen Rengma informed that similar seminars for rickshaw drivers and cobblers would be held on July and end of the year respectively.
Altogether 200 barbers’ from different parts of Dimapur, members of Nagamese Baptist Church, Dimapur and Nepali Baptist church, Dimapur attended the seminar.
