
Ao Senden has condemned and expressed shock over the inhumanly act meted out on Yajang (C) village by Assam on April 24, destroying farms, jhum fields and makeshift rest house.
Ao Senden team led by its vice president O. Shilu Jamir and general secretary S. Panger Ao visited the spot and observed that the “inhumanly act and violence” by Assam showed the insensitivity of the law enforcing agencies of Assam. They further urged upon the state government and district administration to act as per the law. It also appealed all right thinking citizens to condemning such the act of cowardice.
The Senden lauded Yajang villagers for maintaining patience and perseverance, as the hearing for the border dispute was due in the Supreme Court. Stating that the ancestral land must be maintained, it said people should be vigilant and safeguard in times of such eventualities. It also appealed to those living in the border areas not to react but inform government authorities and Ao Senden so that necessary steps could be initiated without violence.
The Senden also appealed to all NGOs/government agencies to help the Yajang villagers who have been affected.
