Angami Public Organization (APO) and the Officers’ Hill Youth Organisation (OHYO) have strongly condemned the firing incident that took place on April 25 near Red Cross building, Kohima, in broad day light, wherein one Vijay Singh Rawat, a rifleman of E’ Coy, 19 Assam Rifle was shot dead allegedly by NSCN- K cadres.
APO president, Dr. Vilhousa Seleyi, and the information and publicity secretary, Neisakholie Ziephrü, have expressed displeasure over such act of violence in a civilised society. It stated that APO stands for peace, unity and development.
APO has strongly opposed any kind of violence within the Angami traditional boundary and disturbing the peaceful co-existence of the society.
Meanwhile, APO has appreciated the jawans of the 19 AR for restraining themselves from retaliating in public area during the incident. The organization has sympathized with the bereaved family.
APO further appealed to all insurgents/ NPGs to restrain themselves from such act of violence in civil populated areas.
OHYO president, Metevizo Sophie, and the general secretary, Noseho Koso, while recalling the laid down resolution of the OHYO and was published in all leading daily papers, have strongly condemned at the firing incident within its jurisdiction despite several appeals being made to various factions to refrain from such activities.
OHYO urged those involved in the incident not to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of the colony stating the public are yearning for peace.
OHYO has also appreciated the thoughtful action of the Assam Rifles for not retaliating the attack keeping in view the well-being of the public. It also conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.
