
An initiative of the state chief minister T.R. Zeliang, the essential computer skills for government primary schools (GPS) under Peren and Longleng districts commenced in Tening village, under Peren District on May 18.
According to a DIPR report, the three-month programme is being imparted by M/s Ramietech Solutions on the theme “Nurturing the digital skill of our young for the future”.
A comprehensive PowerPoint presentation was presented and training on computer fundamentals, Microsoft Office, Internet & Websites and Microsoft Windows Operating System was conducted.
A set of all-in-one computer desktop with a multi-function Printer and UPS was handed over to GPS Tening village. Handbooks on basic computer fundamentals with notepads, file covers, pens, pencils, etc. were also distributed to the schools.
Under this programme, a total of 25 villages and 39 GPSs under Peren and Longleng districts would be covered. A programme on development of extensive school software is still under process, which would facilitate submission of results, enrolment and attendance of the students for efficient report generation and monitoring.
The first day training programme was attended by teachers, students (GPS Tening Village and GPS Tening Christian Village), Tening village council chairman and members.
