Yhome urges students to confront challenges

As Nagaland faces employment problems and there is less or no opportunity for educated youth, Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Kesonyü Yhome IAS encouraged students to stand up and fight for the uplifment of the society by confronting the challenges.     
He was addressing the students during the three-day EDGE 2015 an Inter-College Fest organized by Sakus Mission College (SMC) under the theme “a step to explore, develop, grow and emerge, Thursday at SMC College auditorium, Dimapur.
Yhome admitted that there was a general sense of frustration amongst the public as the public service system, office and transport system does not seem to be working resulting in shrinking opportunities.
He also said that Nagas instead of coming together as a community and society are filled with negativity and blame games and asked the students to raise above all this.
Yhome said the dependency of the Naga society seems to be growing day by day as 95% of Sate revenue/grants coming from government of India while Nagas can only generate 5% of the expenditure.
Earlier, the function was compeered by lecturer department of political science, Tiajungla, God’s blessing was invoked by chaplain, SMC Amenla Aier, welcome address was delivered by principal SMC, Dr. Arenla Aier. 
Special song was presented by SMC choir, brief on EDGE was presented by department of education (HOD) Narola Jamir and another special number was sung by Alemtemshi (3rd semester) and benediction by SMC librarian, Moalemla.
Highlights of EDGE 2015 will be various literary and fun filled activities from August 6-8. Day one witnessed extempore, spell-a-thon, debate and quiz. On day two, students will compete on Kodak moment, graffiti, 60 secs to fame, face painting, tress-me and nail paint and on day three students would be enthralled with music and fashion followed by Mr. & Ms. EDGE 2015.
