RD deptt to take up Dima Raza pond

Rural department has planned to take up Dima Raza pond, Naharbari for special innovative project under central project said project director, DRDA Dimapur Asangla. T. Aier Monday. 
To this, she urged the villagers to preserve the pond for upgrading it as a tourist attraction.  The project director said this at the plantation drive-cum-social work organized by Naharbari Village Council around Dima Raza pond. 
Asangla also highlighted some of the developmental activities of the Rural Development (RD) department in the rural areas, through various implementation programmes and schemes. She said that these programmes would generate employment opportunities and infrastructural development of the areas.
She further urged the VCMs and village council to maintain good record on the MGNREGS activities.
In a brief introductory note, Naharbari village council chairman, Tokheli Kikon said that state government had neglected Dima Raza pond for almost a decade. She expressed gratitude to rural development department for giving financial assistance for the maintenance of the village. The plantation drive cum social work was led by Naharbari village council, GBs, VCMs and villagers under MGNREGS, which was followed by releasing of three lakhs of fish fingerlings in the pond to generate income for the upliftment of village developmental activities.
