
Three Schools from Kohima district have been declared ‘Tobacco Free Schools’ during the second quarterly meeting of District Level Committee on Tobacco Control held at DC’s Conference Hall, Kohima Wednesday.
According to DIPR, Mezhur Higher Secondary School, Mt. Hermon Higher Secondary School and Holy Family School were declared ‘Tobacco Free Schools’ as the Schools have fulfilled the criteria of the National guidelines on ‘Tobacco Free School’.
ADC Kohima, Lithrongla Tongpi gave away the certificates to the School’s representatives and congratulated them for the success.
State Nodal Officer and Jt. director Health & Family Welfare, Kohima, Dr. H. Chishi congratulated the Schools.
He also emphasized on the importance of ‘Tobacco Free School’ as the school children were unable to understand the reality of how the Tobacco Company has been aggressively attacking them.
District Nodal Officer (NTCP) Kohima, Dr. Arenla Walling gave a power point presentation on the activities report of the District Tobacco Control Cell, Kohima. The meeting chaired by ADC Lithrongla also reviewed the first quarterly DLCC meeting.
