Three persons were apprehended on charges of extorting money from separate places in and around Dimapur on October 6, Additional commissioner of police and PRO said in a statement.
The statement said, two persons identified as Kitoi Chophy son of Vitoho Chophy and Khehoshe Chophy son of Tosheho Chophy were arrested while collecting non-local tax from labourers at Purana Bazar. An amount of Rs. 2000 with tax coupons of GPRN/NSCN was recovered from their possession, PRO said.
Police also apprehended one person identified as Atoka Awomi son of Phutoi Awomi from Singrijan-Selouphe tri-junction while collecting tax from trucks in the name of NSCN (I-M). An amount of Rs. 2,600 recovered from his possession, PRO said.
