
Morung Fest 2015 organised by Ao Students’ Union Diphupar (ASUD) commenced, Thursday at Agri Expo site, Dimapur with
Hectic preparations are going on at the Agri Expo site for the upcoming “Morung Fest 2015” organised by Ao Students’ Union Diphupar (ASUD) to be held from December 3-4.
The fest is based on the theme “Vibrance of the Nagas’ and hosted by Nagaland MP (Lok Sabha) Neiphiu Rio and co-hosted parliamentary secretary I&FC, chairman DPDB Jacob Zhimomi while MLA Kuzholuzo Nienu is the chief patron of the event.
During the fest, the Morung choir competition was also held which started off with invocation prayer by Chakesang Baptist Church Diphupar Pastor Vesapra Nyekha.
While declaring the competition open, the chief guest of the competition parliamentary secretary youth resources & sports, MTF and lotteries Khriehu Liezietsu said choral competition is a completely new area of musical contests in the state.
He hoped that the initiative taken by ASUD in this field would go a long way in promoting interest in choir competitions in the state.
In his introductory speech, Enyar Jamir, the team leader of the Morung Choir Competition spoke on how music plays an intergral part in the lives of the Nagas.
Ao Students’ Union Dimapur president L.Bendang Jamir while exhorting the gathering observed that ASUD was a powerful, active and unified union and congratulated the organisers for putting up such a great show.
Out of the seven teams participating in this event, four choirs namely; Tangkhul Baptist Church Diphupar, Town Baptist Church Dimapur, Unity Christian Higher Secondary School and Vision Home Higher Secondary School performed this evening. The rest three teams will be performing on December 4.
