ACAUT questions F&CS deptt

DIMAPUR, FEB 11 (NPN): ACAUT Nagaland has questioned the Food & Civil Supplies (F&CS) department for being silent over PDS rice scam, saying that the department in the eye of the storm was conspicuous by its silence.
In a press note, ACAUT media cell accused F&CS department of being one of the most unaccounted for department and the least transparent in the State.
Alleging that F&CS is the “bread and butter” department for the political class, ACAUT said “it comes as no surprise that the store keeper was still evading arrest even when the unearthing of the scam happened ages ago on 31st Jan 2016, thanks to Mokokchung Youth Organization and other civil society organizations”.
ACAUT urged DC Mokokchung to treat the issue with seriousness and thoroughly probe into the matter in a free and impartial manner.
While the rice scam is being probed, ACAUT also requested the DC Mokokchung including DCs of other districts to probe whether kerosene, wheat and other essential commodities reach the beneficiaries.
It said that the allegation in certain quarters was that the F&CS department cannot undertake such massive siphoning exercise without the “help and aid” of the district administration. However, it is upto the DCs to prove otherwise, ACAUT added.
Meanwhile, ACAUT has appealed to all the tribal youth organisations in all the districts to declare an all-out ‘War Against Corruption’.
It further suggested youth organisations to check whether welfare departments like– Rural department, Social welfare department, Relief and Rehabilitation department, etc., were acting in the interest of the rural people.
“The war against rampant corruption in Nagaland has so much in the interest of our well-being, as to be bogged down by narrow variables such clanism, villageism, rangeism, and tribalism”, it added.
