
Pungro Area College Students’ Union (PACSU) has endorsed the public ultimatum served on the government by the Yimchungrü Tribal Council (YTC), and urged the state government to deliver justice within the stipulated time.
In this regard, PACSU president, Achung Jangleh in a press release said, it would extend full cooperation to the inquiry committee and to the law enforcing agencies in tracing the culprits.
It also condemned the brutal murder of late Alemba and late Naro on February 6 and the series of sporadic incidents aftermath of the incident. “Among the thousands displaced and dislodged, the series of incidents has stung the student community the vilest”, said PACSU.
PACSU pointed out that the student community who were on the “brink” of appearing HSLC and HSSLC exams were deeply traumatized and left with no study materials. “These ghastly incidents has jeopardized the bright future and shattered the dreams of thousands students”, it added.
The union has also condemned the “dim-witted and the rash decision” of the security forces, which fired on the innocent folk at Shamator on February 9.
Meanwhile, PACSU expressed gratitude to the administration of Pungro HQ headed by ADC Pungro, Wennyei Konyak, for “endowing the displaced students in particular, with study materials, and the displaced community at large, with temporary housing assistance”.
“We are also profoundly indebted to the Secretary, Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE), for timely intervention and swiftly arranging HSSLC Exam center at Pungro”, PACSU added.
