
Nagaland Bhojpuri Samaj (NBS) Dimapur observed “International Mother Tongue Day” at its office at Dimapur, Sunday wherein professor K P Avikasit highlighted the rich cultural heritage of the Bhojpuri, Maithili and Angika languages.
Vijay Thakur also spoke on the occasion and added that Maithili and Bhojpuri are spoken not only in India but even in far flung countries of the world, where the people have migrated in search of greener postures.
Secretary, NBS, Pramod Singh also shared his views with the members.
Meanwhile, NBS has also resolved to send a proposal to the government of India to include Bhojpuri and Maithili in the 8th Schedule of the constitution. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by treasurer NBS, Dimapur, Dr. Sant K. Gupta.
