
More report on celebration of World Environment Day continued to pour in from across the districts and clubs. On the day tree plantations were carried out across the state.
MOKOKCHUNG: Mass social work was carried out in Mokokchung town covering all the wards of Mokokchung and departmental offices. Legal services authority of Mokokchung district and Aoli Watsu Mungdang carried out a mass social work at the premises of Mokokchung Municipal Complex.
YRS Kohima: Department of Youth Resources & Sports (YRS) organised tree plantation at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima and cleanliness drive as part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan with participants from National Service Scheme (NSS), Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Indira Gandhi Stadium Academy Students, officers & staff from the department. Altogether, 300 environmental stewards took part in the social work, in the presence of parliamentary secretary, YRS, Khriehu Liezietsu.
Wildlife division Dimapur: Wildlife division, Dimapur observed the day at forest protection camp, Intanki National Park, themed “zero tolerance for the illegal wildlife trade” with the chief wildlife warden, Nagaland, the Wildlife Warden, Dimapur, deputy conservator of Forest, Intanki national park staff, along with the neighbouring villagers.
DLSA Longleng: DLSA Longleng organised painting competitions among the school students and winners were awarded cash and certificates. The programme was led by Victo, secretary, Longleng DLSA & civil judge (Jr), Longleng and Abharam, assistant public prosecutor, Longleng as resource person.
DLSA Phek: Environmental awareness programme with the Church congregation at Phek Town Baptist Church was held, where DLSA and civil judge (Jr) Ajong Imchen delivered message on environmental law. The green Sunday was marked by a solemn pledge among the participants led by ACF Phek, Enyiwekha Wezah in the presence of DC Muruho Chotso and DFO Rongsenlemla Imchen.
Benreu village: Programme at Benreu village under Peren district, was jointly organized by Peren forest division, Foundation for Ecological Security (FES) Guwahati and Community Conservation Area Committee (CCA) Benreu village. The programme was attended by young and old alike in the village as well as officials of forest department Peren division and officials of FES Guwahati.
C-Edge college: NSS unit together with the Mission Green members of C-Edge college observed the day by planting tree saplings around the campus donated by the forest department.
Mt. Tiyi College Wokha: Eco-Club of Mount Tiyi College, Wokha observed the day with a short speech by the principal of Mount Tiyi College, Dr. Apeni Lotha. The students and teachers jointly took an environment day pledge which was followed by a plantation drive around the campus.
LFHSS Dimapur: At Livingstone Foundation Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur the programme was organized by the Eco Club in collaboration with the co-ordinating committee of the school. A special skit by the students of Grade-XII was performed on the theme of conserving the forests and wildlife resources for a better future.
ICAR Jharnapani: ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Jharnapani. Medziphema observed the day with Dr. D. J. Rajkhowa, joint director, Nagaland Centre as the main speaker. To mark the occasion, tree sapling of various species were planted wherein all the staff members actively participated.
Mount Olive College Kohima: Mount Olive College Kohima cleaned the campus, conducted tree plantation and beautification of the campus.
Gilgal High School Wokha: Gilgal High School, Wokha conducted cleaning and plantation drive at Tsumang Lake in the heart of Wokha Town. Hundred trees were provided by forest department Wokha for the drive.
Mount Mary College: Mount Mary College programme was organized by the eco and beautification committee and the discipline committee.
KCCI: KCCI planted trees and pledged to make Kohima city green and eco friendly. Programme was graced by Sidramappa IFS, DFO, Kohima and Kovi Meyase, administrator KMC.
Niuland town: In Niuland town the plantation programme was attended by additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Niulna Lovitoly Sema, Niuland Adhoc Town Committee along with GB and all departments of Niuland town.
Ibaung Thou Memorial School: Eco Club members of Ibaung Thou Memorial School (IRMS) conducted cleanliness drive, where the members cleaned the fish market of Jalukie town and the nearby places by collecting the wastes and clearing the jungles on either side of the main road. Students also planted trees and flower plants in the school campus.
LMDC & TECI Tuensang: Loyem Memorial Degree College and Third Eye Computer Institute Tuensang jointly conducted the cleanliness drive as well as plantation in and around college campus.
Zapami village council: Zapami village council under Pfutsero sub-division Phek district organised community tree plantation at ‘Pfuchi’ under Zapami village jurisdiction located in the inter-state boundary between Manipur and Nagaland. The village community planted 2500 trees as part of village community initiative for forest area expansion and conservation.
Mountain View Christian College Kohima: The College organized cleanliness drive in and around the college campus. Students along with the lectures, staff actively participated by cleaning their classrooms, road, drainage, etc. The programme was organised by NSS unit.
Viswema Students Union: The union undertook massive tree plantation and over 1,700 tree saplings were planted along the village premises. The occasion was graced by VDB secretary Vithuzol Kikhi. In his address, Kikhi urged the students to give more effort in conservation and in protecting the environment. The event was aided and funded by State Silvi culturist, Silviculture Division Kohima Nagaland, Forest Dept. and Land Resource Dept. Kohima Nagaland.
TMT Hr. Sec School Pfutsero: Students of TMT. Hr. Sec. School, Pfütsero presented a skit on the theme. Principal, Bisharlang Reynald Pyngrope spoke on the theme. Students also planted chrysanthemum and conducted mass social work around the school.
Beanstalk school: Children and staff of Beanstalk along with the parents planted saplings around Lingrijan to celebrate the day.
SD Jain Hr Sec School Dimapur: S D Jain Higher Secondary School observed the day with different activities to create awareness among young children on the importance of protecting the environment. A poster making competition was organized on the theme. More than 100 students from class six to class 12 took part in the competition. Class 11 students presented the one world theme song during the school assembly. Sohail Khan of class 11 Science spoke on the importance of having a sustainable development so as to share this planet with all living things.
NSS & DGC: National Service Scheme (NSS) in collaboration with Eco & Beautification Club of Dimapur Government College organised a tree plantation programme and mass social work in and around the college campus. More than 300 volunteers including the teaching faculty and non-teaching staff participated wherein more than 100 tree saplings were planted.
Sanis CDPO: In Sanis departmental social work was organized at CDPO’s office wherein Anganwadi workers, helpers and staff participated in planting trees and flowers.
Schola Lojes Dziiviirii Kohima Eco-Club: Schola ‘Lojes’ Dziiviirii, Kohima Eco-Club initiated tree plantation drive 4 collaborating with forest department and Phesama village council on the roadside of NH-29, below Naga heritage village till Kigwema village. About 200 tree saplings were planted in and around NH-29.
Trinity School Kohima: The Programme was jointly organized by the Trinity School, Kohima, Tsütuonuomia Youth Organization (TYO), Tsütuonuomia Students’ Union and the Fire & Emergency Services. A joint cleaning drive and tree plantation drive were also carried out at T. Khel Market, Sokhriezie.
9 Assam Rifles: Assam Rifles also organised a painting competition at Mission School, Pfutsero, held in two categories of juniors & seniors. The winners of competition received attractive prizes.
Eco-Club of Agape School: Eco-Club of Agape School Chumukedima conducted cleanliness drive inside the school campus while students from class 7 to 10 conducted the cleanliness drive in some places of Chumukedima town ward No. 7 area and 1500 pamphlets were distributed around Chumu town.
NPF Women Wing Peren: Members of NPF Women Wing, Phek with Kuzholuzo Nienu, MLA during the cleanliness drive organised at its divisional office in Phek.
RGHS: Ruzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School conducted cleanliness drive and planted 270 saplings in its school campus.
NPF minority wing Dimapur: NPF Minority Wing of Dimapur division office also observed the day at its office complex.
