SKK appeals for repeal of AFSPA

All Sumi Students’ Union (SKK) has appealed to the government of India to repeal AFSPA from the Naga inhabited areas. In a press note, president SKK, Ninoto Awomi and general secretary, Vikai Yeptho, stated that AFSPA was a “tool to abuse, oppress, and discriminate” and India being the largest democracy in the world should not allow domination by “violent paradigm” such as AFSPA. SKK maintained that Nagas as a whole long for peace and the draconian law brings no peace to the people. Therefore, SKK demanded that the Act which brings terror, agony, and harassment should be revoked once and for all and the government of India should seriously take note of the people’s demand for revocation of AFSPA as an “indispensible” one.
