DNYF display banners of slain youths at Clock Tower Dimapur

Banners of the two youths killed in police firing on the night of January 31 were displayed at the Clock Tower, Dimapur on Wednesday evening initiated by the Dimapur Naga Youth Front (DNYF).
The banners bearing photographs of Late Bendangnungsang Longkumer and Late Khriesavizo Metha read, “Your supreme sacrifice will remain etched in the hearts and minds of Nagas for generations to come.”
On one face of the tower, the banners read, “Democracy in Nagaland: Of-Shürhozelie, By-Y Patton, For-T.R. Zeliang”, “We condemn the brutality displayed by the armed police personnel that led to the killing of our innocent brothers” and, “T.R Zeliang has humiliated and insulted the NAGAS.”
On the other face, the displayed banners read, “Nagas are warriors by blood. Face us like real warriors, do not hide behind the barrel of your guns.”
Meanwhile, police personnel requested DNYF to remove the banners citing it was prohibited area.
When media personnel tried to take photos, the police personnel present at the location said they were instructed by the higher authorities to stop “anyone” from taking photos of the displayed banners.
Although the police personnel claimed the Clock Tower was a restricted area fo putting up banners, there were huge flexs of a certain cellular company in full view. The Clock Tower has also been the most sought for area, to put up banners of all sorts.
