One person identified as Arun Kumar (34) son of Vijay Kumar Chaupy was found hanging in his room on February 7 at around 9:30 p.m. by his family.
The family members reportedly rushed the body to District Hospital Kiphire but the doctors declared him “brought dead”. The deceased who originally hails from Uttar Pradesh (UP) did his schooling at Kiphire town and was serving as a teacher. However, he left his teaching job and started a grocery shop in the town. Though no suicide note was found, sources said that there was also “no sign of foul play” and that Kumar allegedly committed suicide. The body was cremated after performing traditional rituals by parents and community. The deceased is survived by his wife and a son. Expressing solidarity, shops in Kiphire town remained closed on February 8.
