District Health Society Kiphire organized a health mela at Kiusam village under Kiphire district on March 29, to provide various health care services and to distribute free basic medicines.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kiphire, Dr. C.T Patton led the medical team of district program officers of CMO office, specialists/medical officers of District Hospital Kiphire, technical staff of CMO and District Hospital Kiphire, NHM staff and staff of Kiusam Sub-Centre.
For IEC activities, counselling through Interpersonal Communication (IPC) sessions was conducted on March 28 which targeted eligible couples.
The sessions focused on topics of family planning, HIV & AIDS, malaria and other vector borne disease. Leaflets on various health related topics both in local dialect and English were distributed. Altogether 300 patients were examined. The programme started with an invocation by Kiusam Baptist Church Pastor.
