
District Employment Officer, Dimapur has informed that there are 21, 301 job seekers registered in the employment exchange for job assistance as recorded in the live register as on December 2016 out of which 13361 are male and 8003 are female applicants.
The DEO Dimapur was presenting a powerpoint presentation on the District Employment Office, Dimapur and its main activities during Dimapur District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting on Wednesday held at Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dimapur Conference Hall under the chairmanship of DC Dimapur Kesonyu Yhome.
The DEO Dimapur said considering the rising unemployment problem the youths were guided to take up self-employment for which a self-employment promotion cell in regional employment exchange, Kohima has been set up. DEO said the cell coordinates self employment activities in all district.
The DEO also informed that there are 1950 applicants registered for self-employment ventures and recorded 571 beneficiaries from various schemes.
The board members were also informed about measures taken up by the department in order to assist interested job seekers in securing their desired jobs.
Women Industrial and Training Institute (WITI) also gave a presentation on their activities, trades offered in the institute and some success stories of passed out students from the institute during the meeting.
During the meeting, the house recommended Spring Valley School, Society, Dimapur, Sovima Samipfuko Krotho, Business Association of Nagas (BAN), Dimapur, LI-WU Society, Akito Village and KIVI Society, Akito Village for registration basing on the verification report.
The house also discussed the agenda for setting up of Bank at Tahekhu Block-IV (Rangapahar Crossing) after which the members approved in principle and referred back to DCC to prepare detail report.
