
Dimapur Police on Wednesday launched its squad of “Medical First Responder Team (MFRT) comprising of an ambulance and two motorcycles, which would function under the Dimapur Traffic Police and be on duty round-the-clock.
In a press release, Addl DCP & PRO said the medical first responder team would be stationed at both Zone-I and Zone-II traffic control and respond to vehicle accident cases.
A team of 12 personnel from the Dimapur Traffic Police and Home Guards were made to undergo training at the Central Training Institute, Toluvi on the application of first aid and pre hospital treatments.
While launching the squad, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), P. Sendongmeren, stated that the first hour following a traumatic injury, also known as the “Golden Hour”, was the most crucial period, adding that prompt medical treatment could prevent death. The object of this imitative is to save lives and provide services for the welfare of the citizens, he said.
