Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) Saturday reminded the state government and the responsible department to disburse scholarship in full amount within seven days (w.e.f. November 1, 2017).
ENCSU through its media cell has also appealed all the responsible students to remain prepared mentally and physically “to face any harsh situation” in the event of the government’s failure to fulfil its demands.
Meanwhile, Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Unionhas urged the department of higher education to refrain from “framing ‘incommode & inconvenience’ policy to please the student community in zero hour.”
Instead of addressing the issue effectively, ENCSU said the department was asking the students to make a call, which it said was just to ask “bank passbook” that students had submitted.
The union alleged that the department after blaming the banking institutions for the delay in crediting the first quarter (instalment) into students’ account was asking to resubmit photocopy of students’ bank passbook.
ENCSU said this was causing numerous problems and anxiety to the students.
The department, ENCSU said has once again created a policy to torture students mentally and physically instead of working to minimize further troubles.
“Such unwise and unfriendly policy is a matter of great concern and should be discarded from being implemented at the maximum,” it said.
Further, the union reminded the higher education department was not confined only to Dimapur and Kohima but covered entire state.
“If the Department asked the Students to report at the office with their photocopy of bank pass book in order to avail first quarter instalment, the condition and situation of the students from far flung and especially students studying outside Nagaland will be unsound,” ENCSU said.
Besides, the union said students would have to compromise with their due share because of the reason that they could not resubmit the documents as asked by the department.
Therefore, the union said that “such manipulative policy must not prevail in the institution like higher education department.”
