
Rengma Students’ Union (RSU), Tenyimi Students Union condemns Dimapur (TSUD) and Dimapur Rengma Students’ Union (DRSU) have condemned the “life attempt” meted out at former Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) speaker, Joshua Thong, vice president NSF, Boveio Poukai Duo and his cousin Velu who had “escaped death by the grace of God” on March 3 at around 9 p.m.
RSU: Rengma Students’ Union (RSU) in a condemnation note by president, Kisheto Kent and vice president, Tenyebinlo Himb expressed dismay over the life attempt made by an “unknown armed miscreant who fired two shots at them near east police station, Dimapur from the middle of the road. RSU has urged law enforcing agencies to find the culprit at the earliest as it was a matter of great concern and that it may happen to any of the citizen any time. It has also appealed to all sections of the society to come forward and condemn the “cowardly act”.
TSUD: Tenyimi Students Union condemns Dimapur (TSUD) in a condemnation note by TSUD president, Azo Wetsah and general secretary, A. Shyerhunlo Lorin stated that it “questions the police administration for not taking any action when the accident happened in front of them” and added that this was “not the first time that such life attempt had happened to the Tenyimi students’ leaders”. It also stated that it was shocked by the “gun culture” happening in Naga societies. TSU added that attacks on its students’ leaders were an attack on the “larger students’ community” and therefore, it responded affirmatively to the “call for the collective action against such attack”.TSUD also urged the law enforcing agencies to strictly act upon and requested all the tribal leaders to condemn the gun culture.
DRSU: Dimapur Rengma Students’ Union (DRSU) in a condemnation note by DRSU president, Tenyebinlo Himb while vehemently condemning the barbaric act of the unknown shooter, has appealed law enforcing agencies to look into the matter at the earliest “with utmost importance and find the culprit responsible for the shooting” so that no such untoward incidents occur in the future.
DRYO: Dimapur Rengma Youth Organization (DRYO) in a condemnation note by president, Ruchuyhun Keppen expressed shock at the life attempt made for no reason and creating havoc amongst the citizen. DRYO further appealed the police and district administration to take the matter seriously and book the culprit under the law at the earliest.
