Deputy commissioner (DC) Mon, K. Thavaseelan has informed the general public of Mon district that details of any grievances that were faced by them including but not limited to water, electricity, mobile connectivity, sanitation, in-ordinate delay in processing of files by any department etc. may be intimated to the DC via SMS or WhatApp at 7005766737.
Deputy commissioner also informed that village councils shall be auxiliary to the district administration and have powers to deal with maintenance of law and order and also to enforce orders passed by the competent authority on the village as a whole.
In the aftermath of the elections, in case any disputes or fight arises causing harm to human lives or damage to public or private properties, the concerned village council shall be held squarely responsible and liable to be fined a minimum of Rs. 50,000/- in addition to dissolution of village council.
DC informed that reportedly there were certain village councils passing diktats involving expulsion of some GBs or residents from the village for voting for or against a certain party or candidate. In this regard, DC has warned that the village council will face immediate disciplinary action including heavy fine and dissolution.
He also informed UPSC, NPSC and other competitive exam aspirants in Mon district that a free library has been opened at DC office to aid them in their preparation. In this regard, DC informed that aspirants could make use of the library during office hours on all working days.
