The department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science (AH&VS) held a programme on village piggery development scheme and village adoption under RKVY 2017-18 in the villages of Litsami, Asukhomi and Asukhoto on March 21, April 11 and April 14 respectively.
A press release by chief veterinary officer (CVO) Zunheboto, stated that pre-mixed feeds were distributed to a total number of 415 selected piggery farmer-beneficiaries. Male piglets for breeding purpose, CGI sheets for construction of sheds and farm equipments were distributed to twelve beneficiaries of the three villages.
During the programme, the guests of honour were SDO (C) Zunhebot Ajit Ranjan and EAC Atoizu, Tsiatsusie. Ranjan pointed out that with favourable vegetation and ample possession of land resources there was sufficient capacity to adopt farming activities. Stressing on formation of SHG/co-operative societies, organization and linkages with certain financing agencies, he added that this would enhance production and provide easy access to penetrate the market.
He assured to extend help wherever the administration participation was required. Both guests of honour advised and encouraged the farmer-beneficiaries to feed their animals as per scientific advice given by the department. They encouraged the beneficiaries to be dedicated and sincere so that their produce would be in surplus for export to neighbouring states.
The village councils also thanked the department and officials and hoped for more such delivery of goods to the people.
