District Health Society (DHS) Mon organized awareness programme on iodine deficiency disorders and for sale of iodised salt only on April 15 for grocery shop owners under Mon town. A press release from DHS Mon said, shop owners were given chance to demonstrate on the iodine test kits after the district accounts manager, H. Rengma, explained and exhibited the kit. Earlier, Dr Akaba, deputy CMO, explained the purpose of the training and how important it was to sale only iodised salt. He also explained on some facts about the iodine deficiency disorders which lead to mental retardation, goitre, or thyroid diseases. DHS Mon distributed iodine test kits to all the participants along with the IEC material.
