District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Kohima district organized a felicitation programme for HSLC examination 2018 topper from among the government high schools of Kohima district, held at DPDB Conference Hall in Kohima on Friday.
Heurangdaile Guing of Razhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School Kohima, who secured 80.17% in the HSLC exam 2018, was felicitated by Kohima DBPD and family members of Lt. Dr. Neilhouzhü Kire with a cash award and a certificate.
She is studying class 11 Science at Razhükhrie GHSS Kohima. After the felicitation programme DPDB held monthly meeting.
Advisor Rural Development, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire, in his exhortation during the felicitation programme, urged the student to choose the right subject and career according to her ability and interest. He said that to be successful in life one should start preparing early without wasting time.
Dr. Kire recalled that to be remembered by school mates, one should do something exceptionally good during their school days.
He said that everyone should pay back their debts to society after they achieve something in life.
Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan, who chaired the programme, said government schools should analyze their functioning and strive to improve performance of their schools. According to him, government school have the potential to improve and so he urged teachers to give their best to achieve their potential.
Abao Kire, Ex-MLA, who spoke behalf of the family members of Lt. Dr. Neilhouzhü Kire, said this award was given in honour of his late father Dr. Neilhouzhü Kire’s memory who happened to be the first Naga matriculate in 1918, a 100 years ago. He also shared a brief history of his late father’s life who was a medical doctor by profession.
Vice principal of Rüzhükhrie GHSS and Heurangdaile Guing also addressed the gathering. Vote of thanks was proposed by DEO (Education) Kohima.
DIPR adds: At the meeting, the issue of Sanuoru Bridge, Secretariat Road was also raised by Dr. Nicky where the concerned department’s official said that the department had been taking up the issue with the contractor and works have been in progress.
The DC reported that as per the decision of the Chief Minister of Nagaland, 48,000 tree saplings have to be planted across the state, where the Kohima district will be getting 4,000 tree saplings.
He requested all the departments to cooperate with the Forest Department in this drive.
On the Adoption Committee for 2018-2019, the chairman requested the committees to chalk out their plans before the next DPDB meeting.
He also announced the increase in amount from 1.5 lakh to 2 lakh each to the Adoption Committee as decided by the chairman DPDB, Er. Zale Neikha and the elected members of Kohima constituency.
The DC also reminded DPDB members that follow-up-action would be initiated against absentees from the next DPDB meeting onwards.
