Kohima to celebrate World Music Day

People in Kohima will celebrate World Music Day on June 21 at The Heritage, Old DC Bungalow starting from 4.30 p.m. onwards.

The event is initiated by the Symphony Academy of Music and presented by the Musicians Guild, powered by SAN Production, where 15 artistes from Kohima, Mokokchung and Dimapur will be performing.
Addressing media persons on Friday at Symphony Café, Kohima, members of the Musicians Guild said that this will be the third World Music Day celebrated in Kohima, which began 2016.
Musicians Guild member Melekhoto Pucho said that June 21 was a day for musicians and he was confident that music lovers will take part in it, enjoy the event and support the musicians. Pucho recalled the successful events witnessed during the last two years and said that 2018 has the best line up.
The members said that the entry ticket was priced at Rs. 100, which will also include free refreshments and surprise gifts.
The event, according to the Guild members, was a paid event to remove the culture of free shows, and they said that music artistes were struggling to sustain themselves and many musicians had given up on music because of the culture of expecting musicians to perform for free. They said that the culture of free shows discourage the growth of musicians who choose music as their profession and livelihood.
World Music Day will witness performances of popular Naga artists of varying genres such as Rock, EDM, Choral, Indie and Hip Hop.
The line up for the concert includes Incipit, Technicolors, GMD, Tune Up Channel, Table 3, Harmonic Voices, Powerfaith, Search & Found, Tali Angh, Mezanuo, Mengu Suokhrie, Virie Kets, Vitz feat. Mhaseve, Zuchobeni, Slim Path Band, and Anonymous Collectives.
