As part of the National Strategy to eliminate Measles and control Rubella in the country by 2020, Nagaland will conduct the Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign (M-RVC) from October 3.

DIPR reports that to achieve this elimination goal, a new vaccine will be introduced in the program, targeting children from 9 months to 15 years. All the targeted children will be provided with an additional dose of MR vaccine regardless of their previous vaccination status or history of Measles/Rubella like illness. Following the campaign, MR vaccine will replace Measles vaccine under Routine Immunization given as 2 doses at 9 to 12 months and 16 to 24 months of the child.

Starting from October 3, the vaccination will be conducted in schools during the 1st two weeks and later, in the community through outreach sessions at Anganwati centers and Health sub-centers. The MR vaccines will be free.
