DDLSA conducts legal awareness

THE Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) conducted a legal awareness programe at Pranabananda Women’s college, Dimapur on October 4.

Summing up the programme, Y. Longkumer, principal district and sessions judge and chairperson DDLSA highlighted some of the basic legal rights.  

Pointing out that legal knowledge was for everyone, she said that everyone should be aware of basic legal rights for safety.

Longkumer also highlighted the rights of the consumers and how to file a consumer case if one’s right was infringed and the limitation period of filing so. 

She also said that domestic violence was a civil law for an emergency purpose, to gain relief, protection, restraining order as well as monetary relief. 

Tongpok, panel lawyer DDLSA spoke on “Cyber crime”, Sentimentla panel lawyer DDLSA spoke on “Basic Legal Rights,” Zuchumpeni, panel lawyer DDLSA spoke on “Domestic violence” and Dzuvi panel lawyer spoke on “Consumer Rights”.

The programme was chaired by Nishela panel lawyer DDLSA and welcome address was delivered by principal, Pranabananda Women’s College. 370 students, teachers and staff attended the awareness programme.
