
A Training & Workshop on “Low cost walk in plastic tunnels & low tunnels for cultivation of off season vegetables & flowers” was conducted for vocational course students of Sao Chang (Govt.) College (SCC), Tuensang, Nagaland by KrishiVigyan Kendra (KVK), Tuensang, Nagaland in collaboration with Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), GOI, MHRD on October 8, at KVK Farm Office, Kuthur, Tuensang.
A press release from subject matter specialist, Division of Horticulture KVK, Tuensang, Dr. Shisarenla Aier stated that the main objective of the program was to train and equip the vocational course students by exposing them to a new and effective technology which can improve continuously the productivity, profitability, sustainability of major farming systems which can be achieved by application of low cost greenhouse technology.
The technical expert Dr. Shisarenla Aier, deliberated on the scope and importance of the low cost greenhouse technology in Tuensang district, where climatic conditions are extremely adverse during the winter season. So, Greenhouse Technology can provide a favorable environmental condition for plants. Hands on demonstration on the construction of low cost walk in plastic tunnels & low tunnels for cultivation of off season vegetables & flowers was demonstrated by KVK, Tuensang farm manager Yanger Kichu.
As part of field visits the students also visited the various demonstration plots at KVK Farm, Tuensang.
Altogether 23 vocational students attended the program along with four RUSA members from Sao Chang (Govt.) College, Tuensang. The program was coordinated by SCC RUSA coordinator Tekameren Walling.
