
A UGC-sponsored national conference on “Contemporary excitement in new biology”, organized by the department of Zoology, NU, Lumami, was held from October 30 to 31.
A press release from NU, Lumami PRO, Peter Ki stated that, vice-chancellor professor Pardeshi Lal was the chief guest at the inaugural program on October 30. The keynote speech was delivered by professor Anupam Chatterjee, NEHU.
The technical sessions incorporated a series of invited talks, presentations as well as platform talks. The conference covered wide-ranging topics starting from a discussion on diseases such as diabetes, cancer and parkinson’s, to using bio-resources as alternative sources of food security and therapy, among others.
The conference brought together experts in the field from all over the country, including former vice-chancellor of Nagaland University Prof. B.K. Konwar.
The valedictory program was held at the end of the second day with Dr. Abemo, registrar, Nagaland University as the chief guest.
