
State government has constituted a 12-member empowered committee to monitor the ban of single use plastics in the state with immediate effect. As per terms of reference (ToR), the empowered committee would draft the guidelines and time frame for enforcing total ban of plastics in the state as notified by the government.
The committee headed by principal secretary urban development Abhishek Singh has been asked to suggest measures and actions to be taken for the effective implementation of the ban.
The committee has also been tasked to monitor the progress on the implementation of the ban, to receive feedbacks from government agencies, NGOs, other stakeholders and issue instructions thereof. Recently, the state government had announced setting up of the empowered committee comprising of different departments to work out a roadmap and action plan for implementation of “Plastic Free State” declared by the government.
