The Mt. Everest Fashion Runway has set a new Guinness World Record for the highest altitude fashion show. The fashion show took place on Sunday at 5,340 meters (17,515 feet) elevation at Kala Patthar. The event was organized by KASA Style in partnership with RB Diamond, Nepal Tourism Board and Visit Nepal Year 2020 Secretariat. Guinness Book of World Record handed over the official certificate to the organisers, Dr. Pankaj K Gupta (Indian), Riken Maharjan (Nepal) and Ramila Nemkul (Nepal).
From India, 12-year-old student of Livingstone Foundation International School (LFIS), Dimapur was the youngest person to take part on the ‘Mt. Everest Fashion Runway’ along with Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema. The father son duo were reportedly the only individuals to represent India in the record making event. Ahoto Sema, chairman of LFIS propagated that governments around the world especially in India should incorporate climate change and environment in the school curriculum.
Aaron echoed the same concern by displaying a placard which read: “I, Aaron Akivito Sema, 12 years from Nagaland LFIS can stand humbly tall at this highest altitude for the cause of Climate Change, why can’t you?! Let’s be the change!”
18 super models from 10 different countries walked the ramp to create the history. The journey to Kala Patthar (above Mt Everest base camp) was started on January 17 from Lukla and all the super models trekked till Kala Patthar in nine days. The fashion show lasted for an hour in 5644 meters above sea level.
The Mt. Everest Fashion Runway was organised for the climate change. The apparel used in the fashion show was bio degradable including the shoes.
The battery used during the shooting was brought back to Kathmandu for proper disposal. Models used pro biotic detergent to lessen the carbon foot print.
