Longchang Village Students Union (LVSU) and Ngupuh Sheko Khong (LNSK) under Mon district organised public rally against drug abuse on March 15, to protest against the menace of drugs.
A press release from LVSU president, E Puyong and LVSU secretary (library) Loiwang H stated that, the rally was organised against the rising tide of drug abuse in the state, wherein citizens of Longchang village in Mon gathered in unison to fight against drugs and its abuses.
The organisers along with Longchang Village Council (LVC), Nagaland Village Guard, Longchang post and Longchang Village Baptist Church (LVBC), Longchang Citizen Forum (LCF) with youths from seven morungs and students converged at the church premises for the rally.
The gathering also held a declaration for a common pledge to fight the menace of various drugs in the village. During the rally, participants displayed slogans in placards as they marched around Longchang jurisdiction. The rally send a clear message to drug users that such practices will not be accepted and that befitting consequences awaited those who walked their old ways.
