Ao Senden volunteers undertook a tour of 13 villages in border areas on May 8 and 9 and donated money, besides distributing face masks. According to a release issued by the Senden president Chubawati Longchar and general secretary Imtipokyim, its leaders and villages resolved to completely seal the Longchem-Saring road as per the government’s directive.

Mentioning that all connecting roads, including footpaths, with Assam from Saring village and the four neighbouring villages would be closed, the release added that violators would be punished by four villagers along with Ao Senden. Further, it was decided that Senden would approach all departments concerned for making necessary arrangements with regard to the problems and requirements of border areas in Mokokchung district.

And in order to attain self-sufficiency and stop dependence on others, the villagers also resolved to increase farming activities in their respective villages, the release added. Senden volunteers also visited the single-point entry check post for Mokokchung district on NH-2 under Longkhum village jurisdiction on May 12 and met the officials.
